YPC National Studio & Lab 2025

40 teachers and 100 choristers from across the country gathered in New York City to experience four days of choral music exploration and artistic growth.

The workshop kicked off with YPC’s feature performance at Damrosch Park, through Lincoln Center’s “Summer for the City,” including a world premiere by YPC National’s Composer in Residence, Chandrika Tandon.

Over the course of the workshop, teachers participated in conducting, movement and vocal pedagogy masterclasses, as well as immersive discussions on topics including choral programming, arts and wellness, and artistic leadership. Singers participated in daily workshops and rehearsals, expanding their vocabulary as young artists through new repertoire, vocal techniques, choreography and performance practices – all while forming lasting connections and friendships.

Guest artists and clinicians included NYU’s Director of Vocal Performance Dr. Errik Hood, Composer in Residence Chandrika Tandon, choreographer Jacquelyn Bird, and YPC’s team of master-teachers, under the direction of Francisco J. Núñez. The workshop culminated in a celebratory concert at NYU’s Loewe Theatre, in which participating teachers had the opportunity to conduct the YPC National Lab Choir, and all teachers and singers joined together to form the Concinamus ensemble – showcasing a week of collaboration, innovation, and joyful artistry.
