Director of Development
Eric Gamalinda has previously worked with various arts organizations such as the New York Philharmonic, the Public Theater, and the Children’s Museum of the Arts, and also teaches at Columbia University’s Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Race.
Artistic Director/Founder
Francisco Núñez is a MacArthur Fellow, composer, conductor, visionary, leading figure in music education, and the Artistic Director/Founder of the Young People’s Chorus of New York, renowned worldwide for its diversity and artistic excellence. He is sought after not only as a guest conductor by professional orchestras, chamber ensembles, and choirs in North America and Europe, but also as a master teacher and advisor for choral workshops, demonstrations, and festivals worldwide.
Program Manager
Ronald D. Chronister is the Director of Education for YPC. He previously taught music for 37 years in Kansas public schools and has served on the Kansas Music Education Curricular Standards Writing Committee, the Kansas State High School Activities Association Board of Directors, as the Kansas Music Educators Association President, and as the National Association for Music Education Southwestern Division President. Ron has been a clinician and consultant on topics of music education.
Co-Artistic Director
Elizabeth Núñez is the Associate Artistic Director and the conductor, choral clinician, soloist, and founding artistic director of the SoHarmoniums Women’s Choir. She has conducted in the New York City’s most prestigious venues, on national television, and has led YPC to first prize at the Cantonigròs International Music Festival and the title “Choir of the World” at the International Choral Kathaumixw Festival.
Director
Sophia Papoulis is the Associate Conductor of the Young People’s Chorus of New York City, where she has directed choristers ages 8 to 18 since 2007. Sophia has conducted YPC choruses in New York City’s most prestigious venues from Carnegie Hall to Lincoln Center, and prepares and conducts YPC choruses for international performances, radio and television appearances, recording sessions, and collaborative performances with such artists as Meredith Monk and the Kronos Quartet. Sophia is sought after as a guest conductor and choral clinician nationally and internationally, most recently invited to work with young people in Spain and the UK.
Education and Arts Consultant
Dr. Carol Fineberg is an evaluator for some of the leading arts education organizations in the US. Her research is stored in the NEA and USED data bases as well as referred to in other studies. Learning of her research findings, several large foundations have contracted with Carol to design unique grantmaking initiatives to advance arts education in its many guises. Recent clients include Midori and Friends, the 92nd St Y (92Y), Alvin Ailey Dance Theater, NY Times Corporation Foundation, and the Pierre and Tana Matisse Foundation.
Executive Producer
Nancy Bloom is the Executive Producer for the Young People’s Chorus of New York City, responsible for producing all YPC concerts, negotiating concert fees and contracts, as well as a member of the events and fundraising development team. She is an ex-officio YPC board member, volunteered for 16 years, and was an executive committee member of the YPC board before going on staff. She previously was the director of radio and television production for CBS Records.
