If you have ever wanted to bring the artistic excellence and inclusive philosophy of Young People’s Chorus of New York City to your own music program, this is your chance. World-renowned conductors and music educators Francisco J. Nunez and Doreen Rao invite you and your choristers to join them for an extraordinary, one-week workshop and concert amid the beautiful backdrop of Santa Barbara. Here you will learn not only refined techniques, but also proven approaches for building more inclusive music programs that you can take back to your own classrooms and stages—enhancing the lives of children in your community.
At YPC National’s interactive workshop for conductors and music educators, you will learn to elevate conducting gestures, enhance score analysis skills and infuse vocal pedagogy into your rehearsals. Immerse yourself in masterclasses, receive personalized guidance from Francisco J. Núñez, Doreen Rao and top faculty, and dive into discussions on innovative choral music trends.
Recharge your creative battery and find new inspiration when you rehearse and perform a world premiere by Yuka C. Honda, attend concerts in Santa Barbara, and forge lasting connections with choral peers nationwide.

*The commuter rate does not include accommodations, however here is some information on hotel blocks available.
Youth choristers are invited to Concinamus, a national ensemble, for an exhilarating experience performing alongside the prestigious Young People’s Chorus of New York City and Music Academy’s SING! Program. From classics to contemporary music, singers will premiere a newly commissioned work by 2024 Composer in Residence Yuka C. Honda at the Historic Marjorie Luke Theatre. Dive into dance and movement with choreographer Jacquelyn Bird, receive private voice lessons from vocalist Shanelle Woods, and refine your musicianship skills with conductor Elizabeth Núñez.
Enjoy a week filled with concerts, cultural events, beach outings, meet and greets, boat cruises, and more in beautiful Santa Barbara, while making lasting friendships with singers from across the country!
Chorister Cost: $900
Do you have a chorister participating and are interested in being a chaperone?
Chaperones will receive all-inclusive accommodations as their participating chorister(s) which include lodging, meals, ground transportation, as well as participation in events and outings in and around Santa Barbara.
Registered parents/guardians will be stay in the same dorm (and on the same floor and in close proximity) as the children. Chaperones may opt to have their own room or may request to “room” with your own children. It is the requested that chaperones assist with general supervision of all participating choristers.
